19 december 2010 - Hoover Dam (USA). Na pierwszym planie tama Hoovera, na drugim Mike O'Callaghan – Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge - jedna z największych inwestycji komunikacyjnych pięciolatki 2005-2010, położona 270 m nad lustrem wody, oddana do użytku 19.10.2010. Most pozwolił on wycofać z tamy ruch na drodze US93, łączącej Phoenix z Las Vegas. Zamiast zjeżdżać wąskimi serpentynami i stać w korkach, dziś samochody mogą przejechać po nowej przeprawie, a cieżarówki z ładunkami niebepiecznymi nie muszą nadkładać drogi objazdem. Nową przeprawę nazwano na cześć gubernatora Nevady O'Callaghana oraz futbolisty Tillmana, który chcąc służyć ojczyźnie po ataku 11.09 zrezygnował kilkumilionowego kontraktu w lidze NFL i dobrowolnie zgłosił się do udziału w operacji afgańskiej - wracając stamtąd niestety już w cynkowej trumnie, po tym jak omyłkowo ostrzelała go własna armia.

19 december 2010 - Hoover Dam, SR 172. Kontynuując serię geogoonera z cyklu "gdzie jest Wally?" - widok na Tamę Hoovera, połozoną na rzece Kolorado, 50 km na południowy wschód od Las Vegas. Obiekt powstał w latach 30., m.in. w ramach programu robót publicznych mających na celu ograniczenie skutków Wielkiego Kryzysu. Wówczas była to największa elektrownia wodna na świecie, dziś jest 38. Maksymalna moc to 2074 MW

20 december 2010 - Las Vegas, Garces Ave. Największy i jedyny jak dotąd sukces francuskiego przemysłu autobusowego na amerykanskim rynku - 10 Citelisów. Autobusy przeznaczone są do obsługi linii MAX, czyli takiego quasi-BRT - ze wzbudzaną sygnalizacją i sterowaniem optycznym na niektórych odcinkach. Łączy ona centralny węzeł z północno-wschodnimi dzielnicami, które swym slumsowatym wyglądem zdecydowanie odbiegają od typowych widoków kojarzących się z tym miastem. No ale obsługa techniczno-porządkowa tych wszystkich kasyn, hoteli i burdeli też gdzieś musi mieszkać :-)

20 december 2010 - Las Vegas, Las Vegas Blvd. Piętrus, nie piętrus, roweru do środka wnosić nie wolno :-) Linia Deuce łączy centrum z tzw. Strip, czyli dzielnicą rozrywkową z której Las Vegas słynie na cały świat. Na linii obowiązuje podwyższona taryfa - minimalna cena za przejazd to $5, otrzymujemy za to bilet 2h na całą sieć. W zwykłych autobusach wystarczą $2. Ciutkę wyższe sa też ceny na bilety dobowe i tygodniowe, jednak posiadacze prawa jazdy stanu Nevada mogą jeździć linią Deuce na tańszych biletach wg taryfy zwykłej. Jednym słowem - taryfa jest ustawiona, by zedrzeć kasę z turystów ale nie są to jakieś bardzo wysokie różnice.

20 december 2010 - Las Vegas, Bonneville Transit Center, czyli główny, śródmiejski węzeł komunikacji miejskiej. Oprócz różnych dziwadeł, w Las Vegas jeździ także całkiem sporo powszechnie spotykanych w USA konstrukcji. Tu widzimy przegubowego New Flyera w obsłudze linii do portu lotniczego.

20 december 2010 - Las Vegas, Casino Center Blvd. Łąki wyrózniaja sie nie tylko legalnym hazardem, prostytucją i piciem alkoholu na ulicy. To też jedyne miasto w USA gdzie w większych ilosciach (łącznie 130 szt.) jeżdżą piętrowe autobusy. Sytuacja ta wkrótce ulegnie zmianie - od niedawna bowiem rozpoczęły się dostawa 46 Enviro500 do przewoźnika z hrabstwa Snohomish (stan Waszyngton), gdzie będą jeździć na liniach pospiesznych do centrum Seattle. W dalszym ciągu jednak piętrus w regularnej komunikacji miejskiej stanowić będzie w tym kraju sporą osobliwość. Oprócz dwóch powyższych kontraktów, Alexander Dennis sprzedał pojedyncze sztuki dla dwóch operatorów z Kalifornii. U jednego z przewoźników w aglomeracji Los Angele można spotkać także pojazdy serii Neoplan Skyliner AN122/3 - i na tym się wyliczanka miejskich piętrusów kończy.

19 december 2010 - Las Vegas, Las Vegas Blvd. Do miasta Łąki zajechałem bo akurat było po drodze no i są tam bardzo tanie hotele. Nie zagrałem jednak w ruletkę, nie poszedłem na [cenzura obyczajowa], nie mam też zdjęcia na tle Wieży Eiffela. Kronikarski obowiązek nakazał zrobić jednak kilka fotek komunikacyjnych - i można było ruszać dalej.

9 september 2010 - Las Vegas, McCarran International Airport. Automatic rubber-tyred people mover carries passengers of planes arriving at D gates. Half of the track length is hidden underneath surface, which is necessary, because concourse D is standing in the middle of tarmac. These trains are the only connection between concourse D and main airport building, where the baggage carousels are.

8 september 2010 - Las Vegas, West Harmon Avenue overpass. This strange cable-pulled train connects several hotels/casinos (in LV hotel without casino is very rare) and shopping mall. The ride is for free, because everyone wants you to spend or lose your money at his business.

In the back we can see an Eiffel Tower half-size copy (I suppose it would be full size, if airport approach corridor didn't force the Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino to build it smaller).
